Some of you will know that I have been hankering for a pet - a dog and to be quite honest I know what kind of dog we would like too. We came so close to adopting a dog when we were in Glasgow, but with our imminent move on the horizon at the time we did not pursue this any further.
Anyway, for the past few days this four legged beasty has found us and is making herself at home in our garden. I like cats, I've grown up with cats - two family cats called Tabitha and Tiger but I had not made any plans to get one, as I said its a dog I would like - not a kitty.
She has no collar, so we are not sure yet if she belongs to any of the neighbours or if she has been abandoned. She does not appear to be a stray as she has good house manners, but she has been hungry and we have began feeding her the past few days. For the time being we are monitoring her movements and presence.
I have called her Moggy for now. She is making me smile, and being good company while I am at home alone and getting used to my new routine. Thank you stars.
Aww lovely, I hope she can become your new cat and maybe a dog can move in too at some point. x
ReplyDelete:) Yes perhaps.
DeleteThat is the way cats operate - THEY adopt YOU, not the other way round. She looks very much like the cat one of my daughters has.
ReplyDeleteYour so right, they adopt you. You sure its not your daughters cat :) She's a long way from home then :)
DeleteShe's so beautiful! Maybe a cat is what you need right now and destiny decided to put her in your path. :)
ReplyDeleteHope all goes well with you and Moggy!

Thank you Adi. Moggy really is beautiful, she has the most enchanting eyes. I like how elegantly you have phrased how 'Maybe a cat is what you need right now and destiny decided to put her in your path'. Beautifully worded - thank you. She does have a calming effect on me.
ReplyDeleteThe cat is so cute Shaheen.. Mrs. P loves cat and we recused a kitten last year but the kitten was sick and well it wasnt a happy ending... We still havent gotten over the whole ordeal
ReplyDeleteOh Mr P, I am so sorry to learn about the sad ending of your kitten, I can understand why you and Mrs P still haven't gotten over the ordeal - lovign a little life and then losing it. I'm not too sure whether to claim MOggy as mine, she's rather independent and I am a little afraid if I fall too much in love with her, she will be gone and then just be a memory - I am just enjoying her company for now. See how it goes.
DeleteIf you claim her and spend time with her, little by little, she will learn to trust you and you'll have a friend for life.
ReplyDeleteShe surely is beginning to trust me - curling up in my lap voluntarily - but to claim her as mine yet, mmmm not quite yet.
DeleteLittle Moggy is lovely... I too had a childhood cat called Tabitha. My current mog is an English lass called Harriet. We got her when we lived in Cambridge for 5 years and then when the contract was up we asked her if she'd like to emigrate to Australia and she purred. So here she is with us living in the Australian bush.
ReplyDeleteThank you Louise. So nice to note that you had a cat called Tabitha - was she named after the little girl in the Bewitched series - ours was.
DeleteYou are so fortunate you got to take Harriet with you to Australia. That cat is truly yours.
What a gorgeous cat, our vet recommend writing a small note with our phone number on a small strip of paper then putting it on the cat like a collar, joining the ends with a little bit of sellotape. The note asks the owner to ring and would also come off if the cat got it caught. If you don't hear anything and the notes still on then happy new friend. They make such excellent companions :-)
ReplyDeleteI like the suggestion and will do it for sure. I am more and more certain she has been abandoned. She was waiting for me today to get indoors from the rain. Had she her original home, this would not be the case. but I will do as your vet has suggested and then, let see what happens
DeleteSounds like she's definitely adopted you but its good to be sure. They are such good company especially in the garden
DeleteWell if 'Moggy' has decided that YOU are HERS well that's it, you have a cat :-)
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of that Sue :) She is snuggled up on my bed whilst I type this response to you.
DeleteDo you think that the Universe has brought her to you, to help fill a temporary gap in your life?
ReplyDeleteVera, I so do and you have written it so elegantly too. I think so. She is very playful though, I am a tad nervous of her claws and her scratches.
DeleteWe got our cat because she was offered to us - I think it is nice when fate delivers us a pet - or at least a companion - she lovely lovely
ReplyDeleteI think so too Johanna, that is what D is saying to - she came to us, not the other way around, so maybe it was meant to be. She is snoring like a cat by my side - glas to be in from the rain. Yeah she is lovely :)
ReplyDeleteSuch an adorable kitty!
ReplyDeletePeace :)
